To give you context, early this year I commented on a photo on John Luke Robertson’s Instagram. I thought he might appreciate some of our content, so I encouraged him to check out our site. Assuming he didn't see my comment (as he receives a high number of likes and comments) I never checked back.
A few weeks later, I realized that he had in fact seen the comment and he followed our Instagram. We began to message back and forth getting to know each other. Soon after I was on a plane to small town Monroe to design the suiting and do all the menswear styling for his wedding. What I didn’t know is that we would be filming the entire process with A&E as a special for the season opener of Duck Dynasty.
From tearing up their farm land, bathing ourselves in mud on their four wheelers, to styling John Luke’s haircut (Per Mary Kate’s request because she doesn’t like man buns), to making fun of Willy’s LACK of style, to playing with their llama, it was quite the adventure.
A few weeks later I was already headed back to Monroe for the wedding.
Sometimes it takes months or even years to get to know someone well enough to make judgement call on their character. But on special occasions we are privileged to befriend people who exude genuine care, kindness, and passion. John Luke and Mary Kate fit that bill even in the midst of living an abnormal life that is constantly interrupted by cameras and the craziest of fangirling from the public everywhere they go.
JL and MK, best of luck to you. I have no doubts that you two will have a beautiful marriage bringing joy not only to each other but to everyone you interact with.
See the entire story unfold on Wednesday (8/19) at 9pm/ET on A&E!
Below are a few images from the wedding.
