This weekend I spent a couple nights camping in the mountains in northern South Carolina with Ryan and our good buddy, Zachariah. We went the backcountry camping route, where we had to hike about an hour up the river to our spot (which is complete isolation). Unfortunately we got a late start and had to do this in complete darkness. It's not the most comfortable of feelings when the park ranger is talking about how he saw two bears on the trail the night before. Nonetheless, we made it safely to our spot, set up tent, gathered fire wood and hung our food from a tree. The next day we hiked for the majority of the day to check out some amazing waterfalls. Our favorite spot was Rainbow Falls, a 100 foot free fall. We scaled some rocks and found a nice spot to sit for a while and take in all the beauty.
Despite the fact that it was in the low 30's each night, we had a great time by the fire and enjoyed the beauty of this park.
Here are some pictures of the trip below.
After a refreshing weekend with new perspective, here's to a great week!
